1.6 Beta2 out, IRM2 work continues

Filed under: IRM 2, Software — Yann @ 10:27 pm

Just keeping everyone up to date - work on IRM2 is continuing. I’m trying to wrestle the beast which is the abstract storage manager into something, well, more manageable.

In the mean time, a second beta of IRM 1.6 has been pushed to SourceForge. Please test and comment!

  1. I’m just in the process of evaluating IRM, however, before I go ahead - I was wandering how long do you
    expect before releasing IRM2?

I was hoping to tailor IRM for our needs (the attributes of a computer is a little out-of-date), but I
see IRM2 will be custimisable - so I’d rather wait, but obviously not too long.

    thanks
    atul.

P.S. IRM looks good so far, I wanted to feedback some experience in setting it up - should i do that on the forum?

  2. IRM 1.6 does have the devices feature, which lets you create customizable tables beyond the “Computers” option. I’d suggest downloading 1.6b2 and giving it a try - this functionality is disabled on the demo site as it requires admin privileges.

  4. Have you thought about putting IRM2 in a MVC framework such as Zend Framework or cakePHP? You can develop your code so much faster, and it would be clean and organized. Then outside contributers can use the MVC framework to create add on modules, without trying to figure out what is going on in the current code implementation.

    Just a thought.

  5. Bug reports can be left on Bugzilla:

    http://www.svnhosting.com/bugs/irm/

IRM 2 is written within Tapestry 5, which is a framework in its own right.
